Verger — A William Morris–Inspired Collection
Fully hand-drawn using traditional methods, with the repeat pattern constructed entirely by hand on paper before any digital process. Multiple coloring techniques were explored during development — ink and gouache — with gouache ultimately chosen for the final artwork, lending the linework a rich, textured depth that reflects its handmade origins.
The pattern draws on the spirit of William Morris's textile design tradition — branches and leaves intertwining in an organic, flowing rhythm, with a meticulously engineered repeat that preserves the hand-drawn feel despite its precision. Apple motifs and foliage render in soft grey against a deep mauve ground, giving the design a classic character well suited to upholstery and fine home furnishings.
